Planting water,
growing communities.

Environmental stewardship – since 2001

For over 24 years, Permatil has been championing environmental stewardship across Timor-Leste. Through the Planting water, growing communities model, Permatil are advancing food, water and climate resilience using sustainable, locally-driven, nature-based solutions.

Planting water, growing communities

Permatil is leading the way in water conservation and catchment management across Timor-Leste. Our unique planting water and watershed management systems has redefined how water sources can be restored abundantly and sustainably across the country.

With over 700 water sources now rehabilitated, communities across Timor-Leste can now access clean water for drinking, household use and food production from local springs, rivers and other water-ways, that had otherwise been dry for many years.

The Permaculture in Schools program teaches primary and secondary students how to grow food, conserve water, and care for the environment. With over 240 school gardens, more than 41,000 students and their families are seeing the benefits.

Students take these skills back to their families and communities, creating lasting change. Backed by the Ministry of Education, it’s growing a resilient future for Timor-Leste.
